LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) – After bad weather cut the action short on Friday, Saturday proved to be a great weather day for the Class 3 and 4 Outdoor State Track and Field Championships at Liberty University in Lynchburg.

Area athletes again excelled in the pole vault. Senior Kyle Mosteller of Amherst County repeated as state champ, clearing 15 feet, 6 inches. And Gracie Jauch of Jefferson Forest won the girls title, her sixth high school state crown.

Gracie Jauch, CLASS 4 STATE POLE VAULT CHAMP (JF), said “I got out here and I really was not feeling well, but I just told myself it’s my last state meet and I’m going to go for it.”

Kyle Mosteller, CLASS 4 STATE POLE VAULT CHAMP (AMHERST CO.), said “It means a lot. You know it’s kind of a good confidence boost for nationals.”
