Dylan Boeckman, Centralia, was insistent that he make 14 feet in the pole vault soon and on Tuesday at the Nemaha Central invitational he did.

The height earned him first place and put him an inch behind his personal best, which also ties the school record.

Boeckman helped the Centralia boys finish second in the track meet behind host Nemaha Central, which won with 174.5 points. Centralia scored 114. Axtell was fourth with 61.5. Valley Heights was sixth with 45. In the girls’ meet, Axtell was second with 111 to host Nemaha Central, which won with 151. Heights and Centralia tied for third with 88.
