Maya Malony, a senior from Boise, Idaho, placed first in the girls’ pole vault with a height of 12’ 5.5” at the 2019 Simplot Games at Holt Arena in Pocatello Saturday.

“I knew it was a height I could clear,” she said in a press release. “I just had to clear my mind and do it.”

That relaxation is something Malony attributes from training with Olympian Stacy Dragila, at the Dragila Vault Company in Boise, Idaho.

More than 2,100 athletes from across the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand participated in the 41st annual Simplot Games.
