JACKSON – Eleven of the Jackson County’s best male athletes had competed Tuesday night in one of the most technically difficult events in track and field, pole vaulting.

Ten of them attempted to clear the bar as it was suspended between 10 and 12 feet in the air, while the 11th managed to clear 13 feet during the James R. Selby Memorial Track and Field Classic at Withington Stadium.

The bar hadn’t even reached the warm-up zone for the 12th competitor. Parma Western senior Alex Inosencio, who is done with high school except for the formalities, entered the competition at 14 feet. He cleared it with ease.
