Coming off of a Class AA pole vaulting title for Brandon Valley, Hannah Hendrick headed to Black Hills State University in Spearfish last fall to continue her track and field career.

Hendrick was recruited heavily by the Yellow Jackets and chose Black Hills over Grandview University in Des Moines, Northern State and Minnesota State. It’s only been one semester in Spearfish, but Hendrick says she’s more than confident that Black Hills State was the right choice.

She’s already competed in three meets for the Yellow Jackets in BHSU’s indoor season with a top pole vault mark of 10 feet, 4 inches on Jan. 11. That’s far off of her 11-3 jump to win the state title last year, but Hendrick says she isn’t concerned with that early number. Her goals are actually quite lofty.
