BLOOMINGTON — He may be a two-time state qualifier, but Andrew Saloga feels his career has been in stealth mode, flying below the radar.

On Saturday, the Marmion junior took steps to remedy that, clearing 14 feet, 8 inches to win the Class 3A pole vault in the Illinois Top Times Indoor Championship at Illinois Wesleyan’s Shirk Center.

“Hopefully, it puts my name on the map and gets the word out to college coaches,” Saloga said.

He had three misses in his bid to set a personal best of 15-2, barely grazing the bar on his way down on his final attempt.
