DEXTER TOWNSHIP —Matti Kilpelainen’s right leg functioned well enough to run and jump, thanks to a patchwork of sports medicine accessories.
“It’s like bubble gum,” he said of the array of products that covered nearly the entire leg.
Kilpelainen had kinesiology tape and a supportive sleeve on his knee, a compression wrap around his calf and a brace around his ankle.
“The right side of my body is not doing good,” he said during a pole vault practice Wednesday night at the home of Howard Booth on North Lake in Dexter Township. “Ankle. Calf. Knee. Groin. I had surgery on my right shoulder.
