Rural towns in the Midwest are known for hard work, toughness and grit.
Husker freshman walk-on pole vaulter Garrett Elfeldt embraces those ideals.
Elfeldt is a tough, hard-working 19-year-old from Sutherland, a small town in western Nebraska that is home to just over 1,000 people.
He grew up on 3,000 acres of land around the South Platte River. His family’s land made it perfect for Elfeldt to find something to do outside, and he enjoyed hunting, helping around the family acreage and spending time outside.
