JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Michael Carr broke a record many thought would be impossible. He passed Earl Bell’s mark of 18 feet 7 1/4 inches for the highest pole vault in Arkansas State history.

Carr and Bell aren’t just Jonesboro natives, it’s quite the story of pupil and mentor.

Michael finished 5th at the NCAA Championships (18 feet, 8.25 inches). The Westside alum also qualified for the USA Track & Field Championships in the process and has a chance at a international career. Carr created a GoFundMe page so you can help support his pole vault dream.
