Lafayette (LA) High’s Mondo Duplantis said “he didn’t quite make it count” at the 2018 World Indoor Championships this weekend in Birmingham, United Kingdom, finishing seventh overall with a final clearance of 5.70 meters (18-7) in the pole vault.

He took attempts at 5.85 meters, a mark that could have placed him as high as second, and said he jumped well, but added that “it didn’t quite go my way.”

Overall, the Louisiana State University signee said he was satisfied with his performance at the world championships, his second such competition at that level competing for Sweden after finishing ninth at  outdoor worlds in 2017.
