A day after Kurtis Marschall won gold Nina Kennedy leapt to bronze on the pole vault on Friday night.

Kennedy could not miss, clearing every height until 4.60, and then could not clear another bigger height.

Stunningly multiple world and olympic champion Dame Valerie Adams lost – well, she won silver – in the shot put. Adams is the most dominant athlete in her sport but a year after having a child she was beaten to the gold medal by Jamaican Danniel Thomas-Dodd with 19.36m.
