Olympian Katerina Stefanidi has been awarded the gold medal at this year’s European Athletics Indoor Championships in the women’s pole vault event.

Held in Belgrade, Serbia, on her first attempt the 27-year-old cleared 4.85 meters, which not only managed to secure her a win, but also stands as the best achievement in the event so far this season.

To follow, Stefanidi attempted 4.91 meters three times in a bid to achieve a new personal best, however was unsuccessful.
