Polk County’s Jake Justice has the name that sounds sort of like a superhero. On Saturday, the Wolverine pole vaulter didn’t quite leap tall buildings, but he leapt his way to another state title.
Justice vaulted at 14-feet to earn the NCHSAA 1-A pole vault championship on Saturday. The vault was good enough to qualify Justice for the national indoor meet later in the year.
Justice was the lone state champion in the area, but others finished high. Hendersonville’s Micaiah Darity finished second (17 feet) in the 1-A/2-A long jump.
