Salpointe standout pole vaulter Andrew Ference cleared 16 feet, 5.5-inches at the Desert Tune Up Invitational on Saturday to claim the highest recorded jump in Tucson history.

Ference cleared 16 feet at the National Pole Vault Summit held in Reno in January to join an elite class from Tucson including former Amphitheater, University of Arizona and Olympian standout Dominic Johnson (16-5) and former Ironwood Ridge and Oregon standout Colin Witter-Tilton (16-1) but he took over the top spot from Johnson Saturday at Mountain View.
