San Diego State pole vaulter Bonnie Draxler earned the silver medal at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this week.

The senior from Wrightstown, Wisc. tied her own school record by clearing 14-09.50 at the meet in Austin, Tex.

This was the second time this year Draxler has finished as the NCAA runner-up, this time to Arkansas vaulter Victoria Hoggard.

“Bonnie had an outstanding competition,” coach Rich Fox said Thursday. “I am really proud of her accomplishments and the way she competed.”

Hoggard needed a new personal best, clearing 14-11.50 on her second try, to outpace Draxler. Her teammate, Alexis Jacobus, bested Draxler earlier this year at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
