Tristan Slater, vaulting with the Capital City Striders is now the 2013 15-16 boys United States AAU Pole Vault Champion taking 1st place at the AAU Junior Olympics at Olds-Marshall Track in Rynearson Stadium on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
The current state AAA Champion and rising sophomore at Capital High School cleared 15′ 6″ , beating a field of 20 vaulters and increased his personal best by a foot and then had three near misses at the National record for his age group of 15′ 9.5″.
Slater Clearing 15′ 6″ 
Tristan, who has duel citizenship in Canada is on his way to Langley, British Columbia to take a shot at making the Canadian National Youth team.
