WHITEHOUSE — Whitehouse had a pair of pole vaulters sign with colleges on Wednesday morning.
Rylie Smith will head to Baylor University, while Cameron Johnson is going to Pittsburg State University.
“They’re both getting two kids that work extremely hard and love to pole vault,” Whitehouse head track coach Greg Knight said. “That’s what you want when you get a kid that goes to the next level.”
All of their coaches echoed those sentiments.
They’re getting two athletes that are very hard workers,” Whitehouse pole vaulting coach Craig Dornak said. “There is a lot of potential there for increasing their heights. They’re going to be sorely missed.”
“With Cameron, Pittsburg State is getting a very competitive, consistent athlete,” Whitehouse track coach Don Garlitz said. “He’s been our most consistent field event athlete for the last three years. Rylie has had some setbacks, but she’s worked through it and showed a great attitude. They’re both going to be assets to their program in college.”
