Renaud Lavillenie, who holds the world record in the pole vault, will compete in this year’s Prefontaine Classic, meet organizers announced on Monday.

The 27-year-old from France set the world record of 20 feet 2 1/2 in February.

Lavillenie has been the world’s No. 1-ranked vaulter since 2010, and holds the 2012 Olympic gold medal.

The announced field also includes reigning world champion Raphael Holzdeppe and Pre Classic record-holder Brad Walker.

This year’s Prefontaine Classic will be contested May 30-31 at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Here is the complete release about the pole vault field from the Pre Classic organizers.
