University of Akron pole vaulter Matt Ludwig (Lake Catholic) earned a bid on Feb. 27 to the March 8-9 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
Ludwig recently won his fifth straight Mid-American Conference title in the pole vault with a MAC record jump of 19-0.75. He attempted to establish a collegiate record of 19-5.50, but was not successful on each of his three attempts.
He will enter the NCAA Indoor Meet with the second-best jump in the country surpassing 19-1.50. Ludwig won the 2017 national championship at the NCAA Outdoor Meet.
