Rising junior Anthony Meacham of Woodsboro High in Texas, representing Vault Barn, cleared a personal-best 17-2.75 (5.25m) on his first attempt to capture the title in the boys high school section at the Vaulter Club Vaulter Magazine National Championships at the Big Red Barn in Sun City, Calif. Meacham, already the No. 3 sophomore performer in U.S. prep history, took attempts at 17-7 (5.36m), which would have surpassed Jacob Davis for the No. 2 mark. Davis cleared 17-6 (5.33m) at Orangefield High in Texas in 1994.
