In three sentences, explain what you enjoy most about your sport and athletics?
Pole vault is my escape. It gives a chance to simplify my life for a few moments. I don’t have to think about the stresses of high school life.
What is one of your more memorable moments as an athlete?
The day I shocked everyone, including myself, by making it to state has been my fondest memory so far.
Tell us about someone who inspires you in sports and why?
I envy Oscar Pistorius. Even with his handicap, he still managed to be a top Olympic 400 runner.
What are the greatest challenges balancing academics and sports?
My biggest probably is balancing which one I want to focus on. In my mind, vault is more important, but I know that school pays off more in the long run.
What are your plans after graduation?
I would like to go to college in Colorado, where both snowboarding and pole vault are popular. I would like to study to be a nurse. I am considering both the Naval and Air Force academies.
