Bedford & County AC’s Frankie Johnson was in dominant form as he won the gold medal in the boys’ pole vault at the 2016 School Games in Loughborough.

The 15-year-old, who attends Hastingsbury Business & Enterprise College in Kempston, showed just why he is ranked as the number one pole vaulter in the country at U17 level as he finished a whopping 40cm clear of his rivals just over a week ago.

Johnson cleared 4.70m at the first attempt to clinch gold at the Loughborough University campus and leave the rest of the field of seven trailing in his wake, although he was just unable to vault 4.85m.
