Olympic pole vault bronze medallist Eliza McCartney has been forced out of her next scheduled competition this weekend, the latest hiccup in her preparation for next month’s world championships in London.
McCartney (20) has been hampered by an Achilles tendon injury in recent weeks, since arriving in Europe for the northern hemisphere summer.
She set a national record of 4.82m in February and cleared 4.75m at the opening meet of her European campaign in Rome last month, but has struggled since, no-heighting in Oslo and achieving just 4.20m in Stockholm.
