POLE vaulter Steve Lewis finished eighth in last night’s Diamond League event in Lausanne.
The 28-year-old cleared 5.47m on his first attempt, but failed to clear 5.62m to finish in eighth place.
World record holder Renaud Lavillenie came out on top after successfully negotiating 5.72m to finish ahead of Brazilian Thiago Braz.
Lewis, from Light Oaks, endured a nightmare start to his preparations after crew from Swiss Air told him they could not fit his all-important equipment on his flight out to Switzerland.
