Bennett and Dobbs named UAA Athletes of the Week; Bennett earns USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO, Ill. – University of Chicago’s Michael Bennett and Michelle Dobbs were both named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week on Monday. Additionally, Bennett was recognized as the male recipient of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Athlete of the Week honor.

At Saturday’s Phoenix Invitational, Bennett broke his own school record in the pole vault with a height of 4.90 meters. That mark leads the UAA and NCAA Division III by 20 centimeters (approximately 8 inches). The sophomore’s previous indoor pole vault record was 4.70 meters, which was set in 2013.Also at the Phoenix Invitational, Dobbs won the 800 meters by more than eight seconds in her collegiate debut. The freshman’s time of 2:20.73 currently ranks No. 3 in NCAA Division III and leads the UAA.
