Bradley Jelmert of Watchung Hills wins boys pole vault at Meet of Champions, 2019

Watchung Hills junior Bradley Jelmert put the finishing touches on a standout season in the pole vault by winning his first Meet of Champions title Saturday at Northern Burlington High School in Columbus.

Jelmert and Princeton junior Simon Schenk both cleared 15-6, but Jelmert did it on less attempts to win the tiebreaker as six vaulters cleared 15 feet, including five juniors.

Earlier this season, Jelmert moved up to No. 5 in state history when he cleared a career-best 16-1 1/2 at Ridge High during the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 meet.
