SAND CREEK — Steven Martin once heard stories about his grandfather clearing 14-foot on the pole vault. He’s hoping to become the next one in the family to do so.
The Britton Deerfield junior came into the season with a goal of breaking the school record of 11-feet-6-inches. He cleared it by six inches on April 19 and then cleared 12-3 on Thursday. Friday he won the event at Sand Creek’s Hinsdale Invitational and feels he has a higher level in his future.
