Phoenix Brophy Prep senior Cole Walsh, who has signed with Oregon, cleared 16 feet, 6 inches to capture the boys pole vault Saturday in one of the more impressive performances at the Rattler Booster Invitational at Phoenix North Canyon.
Walsh finished a foot higher than second-place Grant Sisserson of Phoenix Horizon. Former Olympic champion pole vaulter Nick Hysong works with both vaulters.
As great a performance as that was for Walsh, he doesn’t have the highest jump this season. That belongs to Phoenix Desert Vista’s Scott Marshall, who has cleared 16-9.
