Bulldog Morgann Leleux Named SEC Field Athlete Of The Week

Georgia junior Morgann Leleux has been named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Texas A&M Invitational, according to a league announcement on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs have now won six SEC weekly honors this season.  Georgia sophomore Chanice Porter split this same honor last week after a season-best mark in the long jump.

Leleux, a native of New Iberia, La., won her third meet of the season after clearing a season-best pole vault mark of 14 feet, 2 inches on her first try at the height.  This was the top effort by Leleux indoors since she reached a career-high mark of 14-9 during the 2013 season.

Leleux, who won her event by nearly a foot over the weekend, moved into a tie for the sixth spot nationally and is No. 2 in the SEC with just over a week remaining before the conference meet.

Georgia could send competitors to the Alex Wilson Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., this weekend and is booked for a trip to College Station, Texas, for the SEC Championships on February 27 through March 1.
