SAN FRANCISCO – After posting the nation’s second-best pole vault mark of the season last weekend, California track & field sophomore Tyler Burns has been named the Pac-12 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Burns leaped 5.55m (18-2.5) at the Aztec Invitational to beat out 25 other competitors in the men’s pole vault and rise to No. 3 in program history, becoming the first Golden Bear sophomore in history to clear that height. He currently ranks second in the nation.
