BYU track and field athlete Kyle Brown suffered an orbital bone fracture and bruising to his brain at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships in Seattle, Washington over the weekend.

There was no reported lasting injury to his eye or brain. Kyle has fractures in and around his right eye socket and they are extensive and will need reconstructive surgery. He will have surgery this week and is expected to make a full recovery.

Brown, a senior from Liberty Lake, Washington, took third place at the 2015 MPSF Indoor Championships in the pole vault with a mark of 5.18 (17’0). He set an outdoor personal best of 5.35 (17’6.5) at the BYU Invitational last year.
