Cambridge-Isanti’s Char Morke won the girls pole vault title at the Class 2A state meet held at Hamline University on Saturday, June 8.
The senior won by clearing 12-4, more than seven inches higher than any other competitor, to become the school’s first state titlist in girl’s track and field since Jenny Aronson won the long jump in 2005.
Morke was nearly perfect on Saturday, clearing six straight heights on her first attempt. She claimed the meet title with her successful leap at 12-0, but also cleared 12-4 before missing three times at 12-7 in an attempt to break her school record in her final high school meet.
Morke’s performance was the highlight of an impressive day for the Bluejackets, who had 13 different athletes earn medals.
