COLUMBIA — Dan Limbaugh stood on the track Saturday morning, shifting his weight back and forth, eyeing the horizontal bar that rose 9 feet, 6 inches. He cleared his second-to-last vault, and his competitors on the bench behind him cheered unanimously as he met the mat.
Limbaugh, 71, has been pole vaulting since fifth grade.
Limbaugh grabbed a seat on the bench after his vault at the Missouri State Senior Games, sitting down next to Steve Estep, who competed in the pole vault for his 13th year. Estep has been pole vaulting since he was in second grade, he said.
