Recently, Hooker has struggled on the international stage since booking his spot on the Australian team with a jump of 5.72m at his indoor training facility in Perth last month after battling a loss of confidence.
In four meets, he has not managed to go any higher than 5.42m – well off the pace being set by world-leading Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie.
Lavillenie, who has finished on the podium at the past two world championships, is a deserving gold-medal favourite for the London Games.
He tops the 2012 indoor (5.95m) and outdoor (5.90m) world rankings and was a dominant winner at last weekend’s meet in Lille, France, where Hooker could do no better than sixth.
