Chris Nilsen, Olympic pole vault silver medalist, given hero’s welcome at USD

Chris Nilsen, 2020 Olympic silver medalist and former USD pole vaulter, is honored during a homecoming rally held Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at the Munster University Center on the University of South Dakota campus in Vermillion. Nilsen vaulted 5.97 meters, a personal best, Tuesday at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games to win the silver medal.
