Clean Sweep for Mira Costa High School Pole Vault

Track and Field season began February 27th and started with some outstanding achievements for the Mira Costa Pole Vaulting team. Coach Murray Mead is expecting an outstanding year for his Pole Vaulters.

Freshman Brigette Grau who just started vaulting in August broke 2 long standing Mira Costa Records. Her 11’9” clearance on Saturday was a new Personal Record and won her first place for Varsity Girls at the meet at Warren High School. The previous Freshman Record was 9’0” set in 2007 and the previous Varsity record was 10’8” set in 2009.

Varsity Boys was won by Zach Augenstein with a 13’6” jump that matched his personal record. First place for Frosh-Soph Boys went to Jake Nicosia who had a double PR to clear 10’6”. Frosh-Soph Girls was won by Catherine Boudreau who also had a new PR of 9’6”.

Mira Costa won every pole vaulting event setting the stage for what should be an exceptional year!
