Loretto, Pa- Your Saint Francis Red Flash women’s track and field team is proud to announce that freshman Taylor Weaver (Butler, Pa./Butler) won both the NEC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and NEC Women’s Rookie of the Week awards.
The NEC pole vault leader reached a new height while competing at the SPIRE Midwest Indoor Track & Field Open. Weaver, who has owned the top spot on the conference’s performance list since clearing 3.75m during her collegiate debut on December 1, vaulted 3.82m (12′ 6.25″) to earn a silver medal and increase her league lead to 15 centimeters. Weaver’s performance would have won the 2017 NEC Indoor title by a 22-centimeter margin and it stands seven centimeters better than the conference’s championship meet record. The Keystone State product ranks 16th overall on the ECAC regional leader board.
