Concord’s Sam Hilts, Coe-Brown’s Makena Lee crowned New England champions

The best track and field athletes from New Hampshire competed in the 75th New England Interscholastic Track & Field Championship at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Conn., on Saturday, and two local athletes were crowned the region’s best.

Concord High senior Sam Hilts ran a school-record time of 9 minutes, 4.51 second – smashing his best time by 11 seconds – to win the New England title in the boys’ 3,200 meters, while Coe-Brown Northwood Academy senior Makena Lee won the girls’ pole vault by clearing 11 feet, 9 inches.
