NEW ORLEANS—The South Dakota men’s track and field team moved to the national lead in the men’s pole vault this season, according to the latest event squad rankings released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.

The event squad leaders are determined by taking the average of each school’s top four athletes in the event. South Dakota’s men’s pole vaulters boast an average height of 17 feet, 7 ½ inches to lead the nation.
