Havana.- Cuban pole vault expert Yarisley Silva got her fourth title at the current 2013 season after leading the athletics meet of Sotteville les Rouen, in France.
The Olimpic silver medalist at London 2012 got the gold after jumping over 4.70 meters in her third attempt. She was followed by US Mari Saxer with 4.60 meters and Irish Tori Pena with 4.50.
Silva set the best record of the year at 4.90 meters held in June at the Hengelo Championship, in Holland.
Some of her major results have included the gold medal at the Diamond League or Sainsburry’s Gran Prix ,in Birmingham, Britain, and later the bronze during the third round of that league, held in New York, the Unites States. She also took the silver at the Golden Spike championship, in Ostrava, the Czech Republic.
Given her stable performance at international meets, Silva is one of the favorite athletes to win medals for Cuba at the World Athletics Championship, to be held August 10-18, in Moscow Russia. (RHC/ACN)
