Thank you to our Advertisers. The partners that help our cause, the companies that bring this magazine to you every month! Thank you!

December always seems to be a more delightful time of the year. This is the case for pole vault and our great nation. Last month, we spoke of what makes us thankful and tonight, as I write this, it is Thanksgiving Eve. There is so much to be thankful for as we finish off the 2020 year. One thing that we are extremely thankful for is the photographers around the world that support this amazing sport. So often people have images taken of them, and many times there is a “like”, and not even a written thank you. We are very thankful for these types of people that sacrifice themselves for the best shot possible.

On the cover of the magazine, we have a picture of Sam Kendricks taken by Jeff Cohen. “All of my first heroes were track and field athletes.” Watching great athletes like Greg Foster, Mary Decker, Dwight Stone, and Mike Tully inspired his own love for the excitement of elite track and field competition.”  This article is worth the read with experiences on and off the field. You will all enjoy this article from one of the top-notch photographers around the world.

Olympic coverage is far and few between and understanding how it will affect each of you is what Kreager has in mind. “Though many collegiate athletic conference’s began to feel the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as they canceled their spring competition seasons to keep athletes safe, the financial strain on athletic programs has recently become clearer as schools have elected to cut their track and field teams.” Amazing information and so much to learn about the impact of Covid on the track and field community.

John Clark is spending a lot of time focusing on master’s athletes far and wide. This month John interviewed Angela Herzner and her journey as a master’s pole vaulter. “Two years ago, Herzner started getting interested in competing in pole vault, and now, the 46-year-old Phoenix, Ariz., firefighter, and mother of two has her sights set on yet another title.” Mother of two and a firefighter is one impressive feat, the article should have been written about that achievement along. Good job guys, love what we see.

January 2021 is coming quickly, and the sport of track and field will open up or it will not. One thing is for sure, we will be here ready to go if it does. Stay tuned as we highlight the next photographer that helps us as a magazine and club in so many ways.
