Dexter’s track and field teams are year in and year out a state power in the pole vault and 2019 was not different as Nicole Bow came home with the girls’ state title and three other Dreadnaughts earned All-State Honors.
The Dreadnaughts have had an All-State pole vaulter every year since 2010.
Bow is the fourth vaulter to win the state title for the Dreadnaughts. Noah Gary won in 2014, Andrew Herring in 2011, and Becca Pilkerton in 2008. A lot of the credit has to go to the vaulting coaches Geoff and Janell Gerstner who push the Dreadnaughts to the top of the pole vault leaderboards year in and year out.
This is the fourth straight year that Bow earned All-State Honors in the event. She was 8th as a freshman, 7th as a sophomore, and 6th as a junior, before she finally vaulted her way to the top this season.
Bow won the event with a vault of 11’09, beating out the vaulter from Davison by .06. She is also the school record holder in the event with a vault of 12’2.5”.
