Draxler finishes 11th in pole vault at junior worlds

Wrightstown native Bonnie Draxler finished 11th in the 14-woman pole vault finals Thursday at the IAAF Junior World Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Alena Lutkovskaya of Russia won the event with a Junior World Championships record-tying vault of 4.5 meters. American Desiree Freier was second with a vault of 4.45 meters.

Draxler, one of two Americans who advanced to the finals, cleared 3.95 meters but couldn’t clear 4.10 meters on three attempts.

Draxler, who was named to the All-USA Today girls track and field team, is a four-time WIAA Division 2 state champion in the pole vault and holds the state’s all-time record (13-11¼) in the event.
