It’s not even high school track and field season yet, but Payton Morris is already in midseason form.

The East Pennsboro senior, just a few months removed from leading the Panthers football team to the District 3 semifinals, posted a personal best 16-0.75 to win pole vault gold at the 2018 New York Road Runners Millrose Games on Thursday night at the Armory, New York.

Morris started at 14-7.25 and worked his way up from there. According to PennTrackXC, he is the third Pennsylvania athlete to win the event since it was introduced in 2013, joining Palmyra’s Timothy Moses (2013) and Red Lion’s Gregory Potter (2016).
