Kiwi pole vaulter Eliza McCartney has got off to a good start in Europe with a third-place finish at the Diamond League meet in Rome.
The 20-year-old cleared 4.75m on her third and final attempt to come third behind Greece’s Katerina Stefanidi and Yarisley Silva, of Cuba.
With the bar at 4.85m, the Olympic bronze medallist had three attempts at what would have been a new personal best and New Zealand record.
