Emmett tracksters get jump on the season

While it’s still a month or so until the high school track and field season will open, a number of Emmett track athletes have been honing their skills in a winter program with the YMCA. Five Huskies participated as part of the YMCA Team Idaho at the Nike Boise Indoor meet Feb. 1 – 2 at the Jackson Indoor Track at the Idaho Center in Nampa.

Teams from several states, both high school and college, participated in the two-day event.

Emmett freshman Landon Helms made his mark on the field, winning both the high school 60 meter hurdles and the pole vault. Both performances were personal bests. His time in the 60 meter hurdles was 8.4 seconds and his new pole vault best was 15-0.
