EAST LANSING, Mich. – Sophomore track & field athletes Sophia Franklin and Jerimiah Evans will compete this week in the 10th annual NCACA (North, Central American and Caribbean Athletics) U23 Championships in Queretaro, Mexico, July 5-7.
Evans will be competing in the discus on Friday, July 5 at 10:30 a.m. (ET). Franklin will begin action in the pole vault on Saturday, July 6 at 10:45 a.m. (ET).
Franklin’s solid sophomore year started during the indoor season when she won the Big Ten pole vault title with a school-record vault of 4.19m. Her record breaking success continued during the outdoor season, breaking the outdoor MSU record as well with a vault of 4.37m at the Spartan Invitational in April. She also finished third at the Big Ten Championship and advanced to the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
