Golden Fly Series 2018: The world’s top pole vault and long jump athletes at the Golden Roof Challenge in Innsbruck (AUT)

The world’s elite in the disciplines pole vault and long jump meet in Innsbruck (currently confirmed athletes, status 24.05.2018): Russian-born Ilya Mudrov (ANA*), 6th position world ranking 2016, and Stanley Joseph (FRA), Final European Championships indoor 2017, are competing in the men’s pole vault category, while in the women’s competition Amalie Svabicova (CZE), 2ndposition world ranking 2017 U20, is trying to defend her title against Katie Nagotte (USA), 2nd position world ranking indoor 2018, from last year. The spectators awaits also exciting long jump competitions: the big star Jazmin Sawyers (GBR), Final Olympic Games 2016, will be challenged by the young German rising star Alexandra Wester, 3rd position world ranking indoor 2016, while in the men’s category Markus Rehm (GER), Paralympic Champion 2012 + 2016, and Zarck Visser (RSA), multiple African Champion, aim for the Golden Roof Challenge 2018 Champions title.

The centrepiece of the contest is the “FlySwat”, the largest mobile athletics facility in the world. It’s 72.3 metres long and weighs 25 tons. The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has certified the mobile set-up as an official competition facility and will officially approve any world records set on the set-up. To ensure exciting competitions for the viewers, the organizers only invite world-class athletes plus some local wild cards to the event.
