High School athlete Paige Sommers qualifies for the U.S.A. Olympic Trials

High School National Record Holder Paige Sommers punches her ticket to the 2021 Olympic Trial in Eugene, Oregon. This year Paige initially broke the record at the Vaulter Magazine Facility jumping 14’8.50″ and a few weeks later breaks it again at an area high school meet jumping 14’9″.

An exceptional feat for any athlete not to mention a high school pole vaulter. The sport almost had her shut down for the last year and a half, but she and her dad had other plans, a dream, and a desire to make it to the Olympics. Today marks the start of that journey as she earns her spot at the trials. Great athlete, amazing smart young lady, and a family that will keep her grounded. Sommers will attend Duke University in the fall as she continues her academic career.

You can watch Paige fullfill her dream on Day 7 – Thursday, June 24, 2021 – Check USATF.ORG for full broadcast scheduling of all the events.
