High schools: National Hall of Fame inducts Joe Dial

Marlow graduate and Oral Roberts University track coach Joe Dial, who set a national pole vault record in 1981, was inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame on Sunday night at Providence, Rhode Island.

The ceremony was held in conjunction with the National Federation of High Schools summer meeting.

“This is a big deal for us, we don’t have many Oklahomans in the Hall,” said Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association executive director David Jackson, who attended the ceremony. “This is really special for our state.”
